Recently I have been asked to reassemble numerous sliding wardrobes and usually when I initially communicate with customers I am asked if I have any experience so whilst it’s a rainy Monday morning and my outside jobs have been cancelled I felt it was sensible to publish this article in support of my experience.
The first sliding wardrobes I build was about twenty years ago. They were bought new from Ikea, I built them in one location, then dismantled them after a year, moved them and rebuilt them. Then more recently this year, I must have built atleast another four to date.
The first one this year was memorable, usually when I build wardrobes I expect to construct them with the carcass laid flat on the floor either front down or back down depending on the design and instructions. This wardrobe needed dismantling and then rebuilding in a new location. I had removed the sliding doors, laid the carcass on the bedroom floor and safely dismantled it. I had found the original instructions hidden behind the wardrobe when I had moved it ready for deconstruction.

When I began to rebuild it, I consulted the instructions only to discover unlike most wardrobes, these need to be built upright and at a couple of stages require a second pair of hands. Now I may be good but I can’t work miracles so to keep the costs cheap as chips I asked the customer to lend a hand at several intervals. This proved successful and the customer was happy with the finished reconstruction.
The next three wardrobes were all dismantled before I had sight of them and there is a good demand for these second hand as the new cost can be probative for homemakers.
Last week I was engaged to collect some wardrobes from Bootle and deliver them to Aigburth, opportunistic as I am offered to rebuild them and was asked to complete the task. The customer was a little concerned as these were triple doors and was hopeful of a good result. I completed the task again with a little help and the customer commented on how easy I made it look, I simply replied that it just practice.

This year alone I have helped customers by constructing numerous flat packs including wardrobes, drawers, kitchen and tv units, exercise equipment, outdoor furniture, swings and climbing frames. If you need my help please get in touch by text or WhatsApp on 07873 565498.

I built three different exercise stations for Derry’s Mathews Boxing Academy and Fit Club, you should all try them out!

This trampoline took about three hours to construct and needed a second pair of hands at the finishing stage.
