I was asked between Christmas and New Year or Twixmas if I could collect a dismantled double wardrobe. I asked the customer if they needed help rebuilding it at the other end and was informed that they could build it so it was just to collect it.
I arranged to meet the customer at the collection address and the first question I received was,” will it fit in your car?”. The customer was refereeing to my trusty small Volvo estate, she hadn’t met me before so I just laughed and said it will be fine.

When the garage doors opened I didn’t see a double wardrobe, I saw a large sliding door wardrobe, fully dismantled, even the doors were in fourteen pieces. Now both the seller and my customer were both concerned that it wouldn’t fit in my car. By rights I should have taken a photograph at this early stage but I was more focussed on re-assuring both of them that my trusty stead wouldn’t let them down. Naturally it went according to plan and at this point the customer mentioned that my help is likely to be required to rebuild it and asked if I had one of them before.
We did ask the seller if they could remember where they bought it or if they had the original instructions without any success.
I delivered the wardrobe as instructed and whilst enjoying a celebratory coffee was asked how much would I charge to re-assemble it, then we arranged a suitable date for my return.

Just to make life a little more interesting the wardrobes were being sited in a small bedroom, I don’t take good photos at the best of times so I have tried my best, I only carried the components into the room as I needed them.

Thankfully there was someone there to lend a second pair of hands when I needed them, this was prearranged as there are a few stages of the re-assembly that needs two people.

You can imagine the excitement from the young inhabitants of this home as this began to take shape.

These wardrobes can be challenging to rebuild and definitely worth the effort, this might be the first one of 2025 but I have a feeling I will be building more. If you need my help please get in touch on 07873 565498.
